Well, apparently I took the death of Barbara Billingsley a lot harder than I thought I would. I would like to apologize to my non-existent readership for the inert state of this blog circa 2011. I aim to change that, and the plan is to get off my duff and share a little retro content [...]

Saturday night we decided to take it easy and enjoy an ’80s movie double-header. First up was 1989′s The ‘Burbs, followed by 1986′s April Fool’s Day. The ‘Burbs is one of those movies I’ve always sort of taken for granted. It’s the movie equivalent of comfort food. When writing this post, I realized I have [...]

Today io9 ran a post about Nick Veasey’s x-ray photography. I had seen his work highlighted on other sites in the past, and it is always amazing. I had always assumed that he was using live people for his shots and just using special techniques to polish the images. Not the case, as it turns [...]

Legendary television writer/producer Stephen J. Cannell died Thursday of melanoma at his home in California. If you watched television in the ’80s, it’s likely that you saw at least one (or five) of the shows he created. Among his 40 (!) series are such familiar names as The Rockford Files, Baretta, The Greatest American Hero, [...]

Did anyone else notice Kanye West dressed like a certain 80s icon at last night’s VMAs? He even had the wayfarer-style sunglasses on at one point. I kept hoping he would break into “Heart and Soul”, but no dice. Nobody tips the shades better.

This clearly took some time to put together. And let me tell you, it was time well spent. Kudos to TheCBVee for this amazing collection of Star Wars clips cut together in the style of the Magnum, P.I. title sequence. I think the Rick/Luke clips were my favorite part.

When I was ten years old, I went to see the movie Breakin’ with some of my friends at our local singleplex. That evening I had what can only be described as a religious experience. It was certainly transcendent. Who knew humans could move in this fashion? I went home that night determined to become [...]

OK – I ran across the image on the Flashback microblog and obviously it raised a lot of questions. The first, obviously, was WTF? The second was, is this real? If yes, how did they get roped into this? Was this some sort of court-mandated public service? I know Justine dated Leif Garrett in the [...]
